Planet Cars – Rental Terms & Conditions
By renting from Planet Cars, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. These are based on industry best practices to ensure clarity and protect both parties.
1. Reservation & Vehicle Substitution
- Reservations are made for a vehicle category, not a specific make or model.
- If your booked car isn’t available at pick-up, Planet Cars reserves the right to provide a similar or higher-category vehicle at no extra cost to you.
2. Driver Requirements & Age Restrictions
- Minimum age: 25 years. Drivers must hold a valid license for at least 1 year.
- For premium categories: Minimum 25 years of age, with a license held for 3 years.
- Maximum rental age: 80 years. Additional fees may apply for drivers aged 71–80 and 23–25.
- Required documentation:
- Valid driver’s license (Greek, EU, or international).
- For non-EU licenses: Tourist visa may be required.
- Credit or debit card in the driver’s name for security deposit.
3. Insurance & Liability
a. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
Covers you up to a specified excess based on vehicle category, provided no traffic laws are violated.
b. Theft Protection (TP)
Covers theft, except in cases of negligence (e.g., leaving keys in the car).
c. Full Damage Waiver (FDW)
Optional coverage available for an extra fee. Reduces or eliminates your excess, valid only if damage or theft is reported immediately.
Note: Insurance does not cover mirrors, tires, underbody, or interior damage unless otherwise specified.
4. Excluded Damages
You are financially responsible for:
- Mechanical issues due to misuse.
- Lost or damaged keys, fuel caps, plates, or documentation.
- Damage to tires, rims, windows, undercarriage, or car interior.
- Unusual cleaning needs (e.g. sand, pet hair, stains).
5. Security Deposit
- A security deposit is held on your credit/debit card to cover any damages, traffic fines, or missing fuel.
- The amount depends on the car category and is released after the rental ends if no charges apply.
6. Fuel Policy
- Return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at pickup.
- If the level is lower, fuel and a refueling service fee will be charged.
- No refund or credit for excess fuel returned.
7. Pick-Up & Return
- Bring a valid driver’s license, ID/passport, and payment method.
- Vehicle condition is checked and confirmed by both parties at pickup.
- Only persons listed in the rental agreement may drive the car.
8. No-Show & Delays
- If you do not collect the vehicle within 2 hours of your scheduled time and fail to notify us, the booking may be automatically canceled without refund.
- Always inform us of delays to retain your reservation.
9. Cancellation Policy
- 7+ days in advance: Full refund.
- Less than 4 days (high season) or 48 hours (low season): 50% cancellation fee.
- No refund for early returns or unused rental days.
10. One-Way & Out-Of-Hours Fees
- Returning the vehicle to a different location may incur a one-way fee.
- Late night/early morning pick-up or drop-off outside business hours: €30 fee.
11. Additional Services & Fees
- Additional driver: €3/day.
- Extras (child seats, GPS, snow chains): Available at extra cost.
- Administrative fees for accident processing, fines, or special cleaning may apply.
12. Accidents & Offenses
- All accidents must be reported immediately, and a police report must be provided.
- Failure to report incidents can void insurance coverage.
- Driver is liable for all damages if traffic or rental terms are violated.
13. Breakdowns & Maintenance
- All rentals include 24/7 roadside assistance.
- In the event of non-driver-related breakdowns, a replacement car will be provided within 48 hours or rental charges will be refunded proportionally.
14. Cross-Border Travel & Ferries
- Cross-border use is not allowed unless authorized in writing. Additional documents and insurance fees apply.
- Taking the car on a ferry requires prior approval. Any ferry-related damage is not covered by insurance.
15. Use Policy
- Renters must obey all traffic laws.
- The vehicle must not be:
- Driven off-road or in unauthorized regions.
- Operated under the influence of drugs/alcohol.
- Driven by anyone not named on the rental agreement.
- Violations may result in immediate contract termination.
16. Legal Jurisdiction
- This rental agreement is governed by Greek law.
- Any disputes shall be resolved by the competent courts of Thessaloniki, Greece.
17. Privacy & Data Protection
- Personal data is collected for rental and legal purposes only.
- We comply with GDPR and handle all personal information securely and responsibly.
18. Modifications
- Planet Cars reserves the right to modify these terms without prior notice. The terms active at the time of your booking apply unless otherwise stated.
